1 Timothy 5:1

Biblical Context

Rebuke is not to be directed at elders; treat them with the tenderness due to a father. View younger people as brothers and sisters, deserving respect.

Neville's Inner Vision

Verse 5:1 presents a shift of inner posture. The elder is an inner father image, a state of wisdom you invite, not a target for harsh rebuke. The younger men are youthful energies within you, brothers in the sense of mutual regard, to be honored rather than scorned. When you choose to entreat the elder, you are taking the I AM stance of receptivity and authority together, aligning your feeling with unity. The inner atmosphere then radiates outward as harmony in your relationships and community. The act of rebuke dissolves into invitation, judgment into understanding, and separation into kinship. You are the imaginer, and by holding these elder and younger images in reverent, fatherly and brotherly light, you restore wholeness to your inner world and its outward expression. In this light, respect is not submission but a confident alignment with the law of your own consciousness, which brings order and dignity to all who stand within your dream.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes for a moment and imagine greeting an elder with a gentle entreaty, as if you were with a father, and revise any rebuking thought into calm, respectful energy. Do the same with a younger person, treating them as a brother and feeling the unity of your I AM.
