Inner Minister of Godliness

1 Timothy 4:6-8 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 1 Timothy 4 in context

Scripture Focus

6If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained.
7But refuse profane and old wives' fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness.
8For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.
1 Timothy 4:6-8

Biblical Context

The passage urges the believer to remind others of sound doctrine, steer away from profane myths, and train in godliness rather than mere bodily exercise, for godliness yields benefits in this life and in the life to come.

Neville's Inner Vision

Whether this letter is a call to inner awakening or a reminder to your own consciousness, the text speaks to your inner state. Put the brethren in remembrance of these truths, and you thereby remind yourself of the realities you already are. Nourish your mind on the words of faith and good doctrine until they become the fibers of your inner life. Refuse profane fables as distractions of a dream and exercise yourself toward godliness—the steady alignment of your I AM with divine life. Bodily exercise profits little, but godliness is profitable in all things because it holds the promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come, when your consciousness manifests as form. The life to come is the ongoing expression of the same I AM, here and now becoming tangible as you imagine and feel it real. You are the good minister of Jesus Christ in your own sanctuary; nourish others by your example, and your outer world will reflect the inner discipline you have assumed.

Practice This Now

Assume the feeling of being a good minister nourished by faith and doctrine; in the next moment, revise thoughts that chase empty tales and elevate your inner life to the reality of godliness, felt as already yours in the I AM.
