Inner Security Awakening

1 Thessalonians 5:3-4 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 1 Thessalonians 5 in context

Scripture Focus

3For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
4But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.
1 Thessalonians 5:3-4

Biblical Context

The verse contrasts worldly claims of 'peace and safety' with a sudden coming danger. It says believers are not in darkness and can remain awake to that day.

Neville's Inner Vision

All of these verses speak to the state of consciousness. The 'peace and safety' spoken of by the world is not a political or external condition; it is a mental posture you imagine as real. When you hear of peace outside, you are invited to observe the inner movements that say otherwise. Destruction arises only from attachments to a separate, fading sense of self; the thief who would rob you of peace is the belief that you are not the I AM. But you are the I AM, and you are never in darkness. The day the world fears is the day you awaken to your own identity, the moment you realize you are the house where all events take place. The outer events are mere translations of your inner state; shift your inner vision and the 'destruction' dissolves into a new form of life. Stay aligned with the awareness that you are the I AM, and you will walk as one who cannot be overtaken by any day.

Practice This Now

Sit quietly, breathe, and declare 'I am the I AM, awake, safe, unmoved by external conditions.' Then feel that safety as real until it flows through your body.
