Nurture the Inner Spirit Within
1 Thessalonians 5:19-21 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read 1 Thessalonians 5 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Don't shut down the inner Spirit or overlook the promptings of inspiration. Test every thought and feeling, and cling to what is truly good.
Neville's Inner Vision
Within the quiet of your own awareness, the Spirit is not a distant guest but the living movement of I AM in you. To quench the Spirit is to dim the light of your inner vision; to quench means you believe a scenario of lack or doubt, and you silence the intuitive nudge that awakens possibility. Despise not prophesyings, for every inner impulse, every inspired image, is a calling to align with your true self. Prove all things; hold fast that which is good — not by external law, but by the felt truth of your present imagination. Test each thought by its fruit in feeling: does it broaden your sense of being, does it leave you with calm, creative power? If it does, hold it; if not, revise it in the theater of your mind until it aligns with the greater reality you intend to live. Remember: God is not outside you; God is your own awareness, the I AM that you are, and imagination is the instrument by which you refine, direct, and manifest your life.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Sit for a minute, close your eyes, and imagine you are the I AM presence nurturing the Spirit within. Repeat mentally: 'I will not quench the Spirit; I test every thought and hold fast to what is good.'
