Inner Respect and Peace
1 Thessalonians 5:12-13 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read 1 Thessalonians 5 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Paul asks believers to know and respect those who labor among them and oversee in the Lord, then to esteem these workers with love and to be at peace among themselves.
Neville's Inner Vision
Within this scripture, the 'brethren' are the states of consciousness that awaken in my mind. The labourers among you and those over you in the Lord are the disciplined thoughts and higher faculties laboring in service to my I AM—the awareness that I truly am. The admonitions are the inner corrections that nudge my imagination toward truth. To esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake is to cherish these inner workers, to honor the function they perform, and to cultivate a grateful heart for their labor. When I align with them—feeling appreciation, trust, and obedience—I find myself at peace within. Peace among yourselves becomes the natural condition of my inner room, a harmony released into outward relationships. The kingdom I seek is not somewhere outside, but a rhythm of order inside my own consciousness, where every part is valued and allowed to do its work. By treating these inner governors with reverence, I invert fear into faith and invite unity to bloom in my daily life.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes, mentally call on the inner workers by name (your disciplined thoughts, your guiding conscience) and repeat, 'I honor you; I love you; you labour for my peace.' Then feel the corresponding inner calm as if the kingdom of peace is already established inside.
