Read 1 Thessalonians 1 in context

Scripture Focus

2We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers;
3Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labour of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our Father;
4Knowing, brethren beloved, your election of God.
1 Thessalonians 1:2-4

Biblical Context

Paul expresses gratitude to God for the Thessalonians, praying for them; he recalls their faith, love, and hope and affirms their election by God.

Neville's Inner Vision

Notice how the text invites you to see the Thessalonian experience as your own inner atmosphere. Gratitude is not a distant sentiment but the very light of awareness that says, 'I am.' When Paul thanks God and remembers them in prayer, you are remembering the movements of your own consciousness and giving them form by attention. Your work of faith becomes persistent trust in the possibility of what you have assumed; your labour of love is the bright energy radiating from your inner God-self into the world; your patience of hope is the steady expectancy that what you are now imagining is already in your life in seed form. Knowing, beloved, your election of God, you perceive that you are chosen by the I AM, not by circumstance. The outer events reflect your inner alignment; thus your awareness shifts, and what you prayed for begins to appear as your present experience.

Practice This Now

Assume you are already in possession of your desired state; each time you pray, imagine thanking God for those in your life, and revise any sense of lack by declaring, I am the I AM, and feel the truth as present now.
