The Humble Vessel Within

1 Samuel 9:21 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 1 Samuel 9 in context

Scripture Focus

21And Saul answered and said, Am not I a Benjamite, of the smallest of the tribes of Israel? and my family the least of all the families of the tribe of Benjamin? wherefore then speakest thou so to me?
1 Samuel 9:21

Biblical Context

Saul answers from a sense of insignificance. The passage shows that outward lineage or status does not determine who can be used by God.

Neville's Inner Vision

In the mental theatre, Saul's reply is the ego’s whisper of smallness; external labels—tribes, families, birth—are but signs in a dream. The I AM, the constant awareness you call God, is the one who moves as the chooser through you. Your sense of being 'the smallest' or 'the least' is a state of consciousness, not the immutable truth. When you hear, 'why speakest thou to me?' you glimpse the moment a higher function is ready to move through your vessel. The truth is the divine plan does not depend on birth or rank; it depends on your alignment with the I AM. By accepting a higher function, you become the instrument by which Life expresses itself. So revise your self-image: you are already the vessel through whom reality is created. Claim that inner title with calm certainty, and observe your outer circumstances respond to the assumed state, confirming your place as the vessel through which Life acts. Imagination creates reality; use it to inhabit this truth now.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes, revise your self-image by declaring 'I am the I AM within; I am chosen to express Life now,' and hold that feeling until it becomes vivid.
