Inner Return and Idol Removal

1 Samuel 7:3 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 1 Samuel 7 in context

Scripture Focus

3And Samuel spake unto all the house of Israel, saying, If ye do return unto the LORD with all your hearts, then put away the strange gods and Ashtaroth from among you, and prepare your hearts unto the LORD, and serve him only: and he will deliver you out of the hand of the Philistines.
1 Samuel 7:3

Biblical Context

Samuel urges wholehearted return to the LORD and the removal of foreign gods, preparing the heart and serving the LORD alone.

Neville's Inner Vision

Viewed through the I AM, this verse whispers that every idol is a mis-tuned idea within consciousness. The 'strange gods' and Ashtaroth are not distant tribes of worship but beliefs, attachments, and habits that pretend to rule the mind. When you return unto the LORD with all your heart, you are consenting to shift identification from fear, need, or limitation to the one Presence you truly are—the I AM. The Philistines vanish not by external shoring up of defenses, but by the inner alignment of will, attention, and devotion toward the Lord only. To prepare the heart is to clear the inner temple of competing images, to sit in quiet reverence, and to listen for the simple assurance that the I AM delivers where a pure worship is kept. The result is not a change in weather but a change in perception: the sense of struggle dissolves into confidence; the sense of lack becomes fulfillment as consciousness chooses the One.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and revise any belief that separates you from God; imagine returning to the LORD with all your heart, removing inner idols, and feeling the I AM illuminate your entire being.
