Neville's Inner Vision

To Neville, the story is not about places or men, but states of consciousness. Saul with his army is the built-up fear and need to control life, moved by the belief that danger must be hunted down. The wilderness of Ziph is the inner spaciousness where such thoughts roam; David is the quiet, awakened I AM within you—your true king who cannot be slain by fear. The three thousand chosen men are not literal troops but appetites, habits, and doubts rallying to buttress a story of lack. Yet the inner scene reveals a paradox: the king who commands is also the one who must yield to the greater authority of awareness. By recognizing that the pursuit occurs only as a movement of consciousness, you can revise it. In imagination, state that you are already safe and governed by the inner king. Feel that this is not a future hope but your present condition—the kingdom of God as an inner, indivisible fact.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes, breathe, and assume the feeling: I am the King in my inner domain; fear and pursuit dissolve.
