Read 1 Samuel 2 in context

Scripture Focus

12Now the sons of Eli were sons of Belial; they knew not the LORD.
1 Samuel 2:12

Biblical Context

1 Samuel 2:12 depicts Eli's sons as Belial who did not know the LORD, illustrating a contrast between corrupt, unreceptive inner states and true spiritual awareness.

Neville's Inner Vision

Scripture presents the sons of Eli as Belial, those who do not know the LORD; not a distant historical flaw, but a state of consciousness that has forgotten its source. In Neville's teaching, 'the LORD' is the I AM that you are aware of in every moment. To know the LORD means to awaken to the living presence within, the royal consciousness that animates all acts. The 'sons of Belial' are the habitual thoughts, fears, and appetites that pretend to be life but refuse to acknowledge the Lord within. When you identify with that Belial state, you experience separation, corruption, and noise; yet the possibility of a turn is always present. By choosing a different state—by imagining, assuming, and feeling the I AM as here now—you reverse the conditions of your life. The verse invites you to inspect your inner temple and invite the Lord to reign. As you persist in the inner assumption, your inner activities align, your actions become faithful, and the awareness that knows governs the outer scene.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes, touch your heart, and assume the feeling: I am the LORD, within me now. Stay with that assumption until awareness expands and the outer scene reflects this inner reign.
