Inner Flight to Deliverance
1 Samuel 19:10 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read 1 Samuel 19 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Saul throws a javelin at David, aiming to strike him. But David slips away and escapes that night.
Neville's Inner Vision
Saul's javelin is not a weapon in fact, but a projection of fear from the surface of your mind. The wall becomes the boundary you imagine between your true self and the threat, and David's slipping away represents the moment when awareness shifts from identifying with the fear to recognizing the sufficiency of the I AM. In this inner drama, the pursuer is your restless thoughts; the protection is the steadfast I AM that cannot be harmed. The attempt to smite to the wall shows the mind's impulse to annihilate what it fears; yet the escape occurs by a change of condition in consciousness, not by force. When you inhabit the feeling that you are the I AM, you experience the same escape: the javelin leaves the wall, the threat dissolves, and you are free to continue your day unscathed. This is Providence moving through your present moment: the danger you fear is only a private vision, and deliverance comes when you revise the image with faith in your inner safety. Practice turning toward the I AM right now, and notice how fear loses its grip.
Practice This Now
Assume you are already safe; feel it real and revise the scene. Picture the javelin dissolving as you affirm, 'I am protected by the I AM and untouched by any threat,' and let that assurance settle into your bones.
