The Inner Anointing Within
1 Samuel 16:6 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read 1 Samuel 16 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Samuel looked at Eliab and concluded the LORD's anointed was before him based on appearance; the verse invites us to look beyond surface signs to the inner reality.
Neville's Inner Vision
Behold the scene, and notice how you are Samuel in your own life, mistaking outer form for the truth of your being. The appearance of Eliab triggers a familiar impulse: to crown the most impressive image as God’s chosen. But in the inner law, the 'anointed' is not a man seen with the eyes; the anointing is the I AM awareness that already selects and sustains you. The seeming act of looking upon another reveals a deeper step: you must revise your assumption from 'this thing or person is the chosen one' to 'I am the one the Lord has chosen, here and now.' The kingdom is not handed to you by a sign; it is the state of consciousness you inhabit. When you feel the pull of exterior criteria, return to the inner witness that you are the anointed, because the I AM within is your true authority, your quiet kingship, your lifelong guidance. The outer scene is only a mirror of your current inner state; adjust the mirror by assuming the reality of the I AM.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and repeat, 'I am the Lord's anointed, here and now.' Feel the I AM within as a quiet sovereign presence, and revise any outward sign as a mere appearance, not the truth of you.
