Turn From Vanity, Follow The LORD
1 Samuel 12:20-21 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read 1 Samuel 12 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Samuel tells the people to fear not and to turn from their wickedness by serving the LORD with all their heart. He warns not to chase vanities that promise profit but deliver nothing.
Neville's Inner Vision
Within Samuel’s instruction you are addressing a state of consciousness, not a history. Fear not; your past misdeeds are mere memory, not destiny. Turn not aside from following the LORD, says the I AM to the you who believes in separation. To serve the LORD with all your heart is to fix your attention on the divine life within, to imagine the I AM as sovereign director of every thought and deed. The vain things that lure you are counterfeit satisfactions—appearances, status, or possessions—that cannot profit or deliver because they belong to lack and fluctuation. They vanish the moment you awaken to true substance: your oneness with the life that is God within. Obedience and faithfulness become practical outcomes of this inward alignment: you cease seeking from without and begin acknowledging the always-present guidance within. Your choices mirror a settled conviction that you are cared for, led, and protected by the one power you know as I AM. When you hold this, fear dissolves, and your action flows in harmony with a divine order that already enfolds you.
Practice This Now
Assume I am following the LORD with all my heart; feel the I AM directing my steps and fade the lure of vanities by dwelling in this inner truth. Let this feeling-real practice remain for a few minutes and observe how your choices reflect inner alignment.
