Inner Deliverers of Safety
1 Samuel 12:11 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read 1 Samuel 12 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
God delivered you from enemies on every side by sending leaders—Jerubbaal, Bedan, Jephthah, and Samuel—and you dwelt in safety.
Neville's Inner Vision
Observe that the Lord did not go outside you to rescue you; He awakened within you the very faculties that always ride at your side as your defense. Jerubbaal, Bedan, Jephthah, and Samuel are not distant persons but inner capacities—courageous discernment, decisive action, faithfulness to the vow, and prophetic listening—awakened by your awareness. The foes you fight—fear, lack, confusion—are merely imaginal states; when you identify with the I AM, these inner offices move to protect your sense of dwelling on every side. The promise 'you dwelled safe' becomes your present mood when you assume the outcome in imagination and feel it as real now. This is the law: your consciousness calls forth the men and deeds that rescue you; Providence is your own awareness, guiding you to safety. The presence of God is the awareness that never leaves, and covenant loyalty is your steadfast fidelity to that awareness. Do not seek external deliverers; awaken them within, and the external world will reflect your inner securely kept kingdom.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and assume that the I AM within you has summoned Jerubbaal, Bedan, Jephthah, and Samuel as your inner protectors. Dwell in the feeling of safety now; repeat, 'I am safe, I am led, I am held by God' until it feels real.
