Inner Shepherd Leadership Within

1 Peter 5:2-3 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 1 Peter 5 in context

Scripture Focus

2Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;
3Neither as being lords over God's heritage, but being ensamples to the flock.
1 Peter 5:2-3

Biblical Context

Peter calls leaders to feed the flock among them with a willing mind, not by constraint and not for money; they should be examples, not lords. This grounds leadership in humility and inner character rather than position.

Neville's Inner Vision

Feed the flock of God which is among you, the inner world within you. The 'flock' is your states of consciousness; the 'oversight' is your choice to rule your own inner climate. Not by constraint means you do not compel your states by fear or lack; you allow them to be freely tended by imagination. Not for filthy lucre but of a ready mind means motive matters: you oversee with a receptive, generous heart, aligning your inner activity to serve rather than gain. Neither as lords over God's heritage but as ensamples to the flock means you embody in your inner life the qualities you desire others to emulate. When you live as the pattern of steadfast love, you become the visible sign that your inner I AM is guiding, not an external authority dictating from fear. As you assume the state of gracious leadership, the inner flock follows that reality, echoing your consciousness into outward circumstance.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and assume the I AM as the inner shepherd of your mind. Revise any motive of constraint into willingness, and feel yourself embodying the example you wish to set.
