1 Peter 5:13 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 1 Peter 5 in context

Scripture Focus

13The church that is at Babylon, elected together with you, saluteth you; and so doth Marcus my son.
1 Peter 5:13

Biblical Context

The verse presents the church at Babylon sending a greeting to you, alongside Marcus, signaling a shared fellowship across exile. It points to a unity among believers even while scattered.

Neville's Inner Vision

Think of Babylon as a state of mind, a worldly atmosphere that seems to surround you. The 'church' that is at Babylon is your own inner community—the collective awareness of all that you are in God. When Peter says they salute you, and Marcus my son salutes you, that is your inner self acknowledging you, welcoming you back to the unity of all mind in One; you are elected together with them because in this state of consciousness there is no separation. Your sense of exile, of being away from home, dissolves as you recognize that you stand with the whole family in the Mind that truly is. Marcus, your inner son, represents your right to hear and heed the divine voice within, the call to return to the truth of your oneness. Therefore, the outward greetings reflect your inner state: you are seen, you are chosen, you are home in God. Trust this unity, and let the belief in separation drop away as you hold the awareness that you are already redeemed and in possession of salvation within.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: Close your eyes and repeat, 'The church in Babylon greets me; I am united with all elected in the One Mind.' Feel this greeting as your present awareness and revise exile into home.
