The Inner Judgment Within
1 Peter 4:17 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read 1 Peter 4 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Peter says judgment begins with the house of God; our own state of mind is examined first. In plain terms, inner accountability leads the way before judging the world.
Neville's Inner Vision
Within the text, the 'house of God' is your own consciousness—the arena where imagination, belief, and feeling reside. 'The time is come' indicates the present moment when you are asked to awaken to this inner court. 'Judgment' is not punitive; it is the clear discernment of states of consciousness. To begin at 'us' means your inner self must align with the gospel first, for the law of life is inward, and the outer is a reflection of your inner devotion. When you assume a state of truth, you are not fighting the world but revising your inner scene. If you do not obey the gospel—if you persist in fear, lack of trust, or separation—you only condition future events to mirror that state. Therefore, the end of those who do not obey is the natural consequence of thinking and feeling apart from the gospel. The practical path is to return to I AM, to imagine you are already living in the truth you seek, and to act consistently from that state. In short: spiritual correction begins with you, and manifest order follows.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and assume the I AM as your real self; revise one judgment you held about someone by affirming they are already living from the same gospel you claim. Then feel the revised state as real for 90 seconds.
