Restful Inner Temple
1 Kings 5:4-5 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read 1 Kings 5 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The passage speaks of God granting rest on every side and a plan to build a temple for His name. The inner teaching is that true worship arises from a rested mind acting as a sacred dwelling for the divine.
Neville's Inner Vision
Think of the verse as a declaration about your own consciousness. God, the I AM within, has given you rest on every side, so that there is no adversary or disturbance in your awareness when you stand in alignment. The intention to build a house unto the name of the LORD is not a building project in the world, but a decision of the mind to establish a state of worship that is present everywhere you go. The line about the son whom I will set upon thy throne in thy room points to your imaginal faculty—your inner son—placed on the throne of awareness, authorizing the creation of a temple within your mind. As you dwell in this inner room, the temple grows from imagination into lived experience. Therefore, the kingdom is not coming later; it is being established now in your consciousness whenever you choose to rest and imagine the divine presence abiding there.
Practice This Now
Imaginative Act: Close your eyes and assume the state: I rest on every side; the LORD my God is within me. Visualize the inner temple completed, set your inner king on the throne of your awareness, and dwell there for a few minutes, feeling the divine presence permeate your life.
