Solomon’s Inner Decision

1 Kings 3:16-22 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 1 Kings 3 in context

Scripture Focus

16Then came there two women, that were harlots, unto the king, and stood before him.
17And the one woman said, O my lord, I and this woman dwell in one house; and I was delivered of a child with her in the house.
18And it came to pass the third day after that I was delivered, that this woman was delivered also: and we were together; there was no stranger with us in the house, save we two in the house.
19And this woman's child died in the night; because she overlaid it.
20And she arose at midnight, and took my son from beside me, while thine handmaid slept, and laid it in her bosom, and laid her dead child in my bosom.
21And when I rose in the morning to give my child suck, behold, it was dead: but when I had considered it in the morning, behold, it was not my son, which I did bear.
22And the other woman said, Nay; but the living is my son, and the dead is thy son. And this said, No; but the dead is thy son, and the living is my son. Thus they spake before the king.

Biblical Context

Two women claim the living child before a king; the dispute is settled by discerning which claim aligns with true life.

Neville's Inner Vision

In this scene, the two harlots symbolize opposing states of consciousness within you. The king represents your I AM, your steadfast awareness that can see through appearances. The living son is the living truth of your desire, while the dead son is a belief born of fear or lack. The third day after birth marks a shift where consciousness can reveal which state is truly alive. Solomon’s solution is not a calculation but an inner act of imagination: let your awareness declare the living truth by the quality of your assumption. When you dwell in the feeling that your wish already exists in you, the living son is recognized as yours and the dispute dissolves. Practice detaching from the fear of loss and allow the inner judge to reveal which state aligns with reality—the one you choose by the vitality of your inner assumption.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: in quiet, assume the living truth is already yours and revise the scene so your awareness holds the living son. Feel it real now, and let the inner judge settle the dispute.
