Naboth's Vineyard Inner Covenant
1 Kings 21:1-3 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read 1 Kings 21 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Naboth owns a vineyard near Ahab's palace; Ahab asks to buy it or exchange it for a better one, and Naboth refuses, honoring the inheritance of his fathers and the divine law.
Neville's Inner Vision
Imagine Naboth as the steadfast inner covenant—the I AM that guards the inheritance of your fathers. The vineyard near the king's palace is a close by habit, a persistent thought you would possess because it sits near your outward life of control. Ahab is the bargaining mind within you, whispering that money or a better substitute can secure what the heart desires. Naboth's reply, The LORD forbid it me, declares that the true inheritance cannot be sold, for it is the living memory of your original Covenant with the I AM. The conflict shows you attempting to trade your divine state for worldly gain; you must revise the belief until your inner state is not for sale. If you consent to sell, you awaken the absence of the spiritual life; if you revise the scene in imagination, feeling the covenant as already kept, the outward palace will loosen its grip and reflect an inner life governed by the law you refuse to barter. Return to the feeling of I AM as the owner of your vineyard; align every desire with this unwavering state and harmony follows.
Practice This Now
Assume the feeling that I am the law in me, the inner covenant unalterable, and revise the scene so the offer dissolves and Naboth remains secure in his inheritance.
