Scripture Focus

23Let them therefore give us two bullocks; and let them choose one bullock for themselves, and cut it in pieces, and lay it on wood, and put no fire under: and I will dress the other bullock, and lay it on wood, and put no fire under:
24And call ye on the name of your gods, and I will call on the name of the LORD: and the God that answereth by fire, let him be God. And all the people answered and said, It is well spoken.
1 Kings 18:23-24

Biblical Context

Elijah sets up a contest between two offerings to reveal which god the people will honor; the true God is the one who answers with fire.

Neville's Inner Vision

On the surface this tale is a duel of deities; in the inner sense it reveals the constant choice before every mind: which state of consciousness will you feed? The two bullocks are two streams of belief you hold in the imagination. When you call on the names of your gods—whether fear, habit, wish, or faith—the real test is not which performs a miracle, but which state you deem true and alive in awareness. Elijah's declaration that the God who answers by fire is the Lord shows that the decisive fire is not external but interior: it is the spark of awareness when you stand in the I AM and refuse to seek elsewhere. The moment you align your attention with the I AM, your imagined state receives energy and begins to reveal itself as form. Therefore, practice the art: dwell in the conviction that the I AM within you is the fire that answers, and let your life demonstrate the certainty you cultivate in consciousness.

Practice This Now

Sit, close your eyes, and assume the I AM as your inner fire. Say softly, 'God within me answers by fire,' and feel the certainty rise as if the imagined outcome were already true.
