Inner Crown at Shechem
1 Kings 12:1-4 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Rehoboam travels to Shechem to be crowned, and Israel asks him to ease the heavy yoke Solomon laid on them; Jeroboam's return signals a competing current within the self.
Neville's Inner Vision
Within you, the city of Shechem is the moment of decision, where all your parts gather to crown a you that rules. Rehoboam's ascent is the moment you declare, I AM the ruler of my life; the gathering of Israel are the many impulses you choose to align behind that I AM. Jeroboam's presence, fled to Egypt, represents the old fear-based states that would threaten your sovereignty; they whisper from past memories, seeking to be king again. But the inner voice answers: lighten the yoke of yesterday’s beliefs, not by shrinking truth, but by reinterpreting it through your new sense of I AM. The yoke becomes a burden only as you imagine it to be; by assuming a lighter service, you invite faithful obedience to your higher self. The scene is not external history; it is your own change of state. When you feel the new king's authority, your world rearranges itself to fit that inner crown, and all Israel—your faculties—serve your present I AM.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and see the inner court of Shechem. Crown the I AM as ruler and revise one burden by affirming a lighter yoke, feeling it real now.
