Solomon's Inner Heart Revisited

1 Kings 11:4 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 1 Kings 11 in context

Scripture Focus

4For it came to pass, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned away his heart after other gods: and his heart was not perfect with the LORD his God, as was the heart of David his father.
1 Kings 11:4

Biblical Context

Solomon's old heart drifts from the LORD, showing a consciousness not perfectly aligned with God as David's was.

Neville's Inner Vision

Viewed through Neville's lens, the verse speaks of a state of consciousness, not a history. 'Solomon's old heart' signals a mind habituated to many loves and outward attractions; his 'wives' are the inner images that pull attention away from the one true ruler inside. The 'other gods' are not distant deities but mis-timed loyalties—the belief that life is governed by varied powers rather than by the I AM. When the heart is not 'perfect with the LORD,' the I AM has not been enthroned as governor of awareness. David's heart represents the natural, constant alignment with God, the I AM present as sovereign. To return to that perfection, you don't change outer circumstances, you revise the inner state. Assume a new ruling consciousness: I AM the LORD of this mind; let your attention end its wandering and dwell in that single awareness. Imagination is the tool; by feeling it real that the mind is wholly governed by the I AM, you dissolve the old allegiance to many 'gods' and awaken to the one, faithful heart.

Practice This Now

Imaginative Act: Assume the I AM is king of your mind now and feel the heart as undivided and loyal. When distractions arise, revise by silently affirming, 'I AM the LORD of this mind,' and settle into that single feeling.
