Inner Covenant vs Idolatry

1 Kings 11:33 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 1 Kings 11 in context

Scripture Focus

33Because that they have forsaken me, and have worshipped Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians, Chemosh the god of the Moabites, and Milcom the god of the children of Ammon, and have not walked in my ways, to do that which is right in mine eyes, and to keep my statutes and my judgments, as did David his father.
1 Kings 11:33

Biblical Context

The verse states that Israel forsook the Lord by worshiping other gods and did not walk in His ways, contrasting with David’s faithful path.

Neville's Inner Vision

Verse 11:33 speaks in scripture terms of forsaking the I AM for the idols of Ashtoreth, Chemosh, and Milcom—inner beliefs that pretend to govern life. In Neville’s light, these so‑called deities are not distant nations but states of consciousness we entertain when we forget the Self as I AM. When you align with such states, you leave the inner law and abandon the right actions that flow from awareness; you feel separation, lack, and judgment. Yet to be faithful “as did David his father” is to keep returning to the inner shepherd—your unchanging principle of being. The judgment the text hints at is simply the estrangement from your true source, a consequence of ignoring the inner commandments. The remedy is simple: stop worshipping the counterfeit, and assume the feelings of your true royal nature. Return to the I AM at the center, revise the scene that says you are ruled by fear or circumstance, and feel the reality of right action already completed in you. In that return, the inner kingdom becomes visible, and your life follows the right path again.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes, affirm 'I am the I AM' and revise a current scene where you yield to fear or lack. Feel the truth of inner obedience now as you see yourself acting from that center.
