The Inner Christ in Flesh

1 John 4:3 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 1 John 4 in context

Scripture Focus

3And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
1 John 4:3

Biblical Context

1 John 4:3 declares that any spirit not confessing that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God; the spirit of antichrist is already in the world.

Neville's Inner Vision

John’s verse is not about distant history but about your inner weather. The 'spirit' that denies that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is the posture of separation you entertain in consciousness. In Neville’s terms, the entire world of appearances is a state of mind; to confess that Christ has come in the flesh is to acknowledge that the living awareness—the I AM—has incarnated as your body, your feelings, your circumstances. When you doubt that awareness, you yield to the antichrist spirit, a present, subtle belief that you are other than God made manifest. The flesh, your form and sensations, becomes the arena in which the truth of your oneness is tested. If you accept the appearance of limitation as real, you are agreeing with a counterfeit consciousness; if you assert that Christ is present now, you are reviving the divine pattern that was always true. The trick is to remain steady in the conviction that God’s life is your life, and that the birth of Christ is ongoing in your experience, not a past event.

Practice This Now

Take a moment now to assume the I AM as the observer of your flesh and repeat, 'Jesus Christ is come in the flesh in me.' Feel the body warming with that awareness and notice any doubt dissolving as you practice.
