Inner Rights, Outer Provision

1 Corinthians 9:4-6 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 1 Corinthians 9 in context

Scripture Focus

4Have we not power to eat and to drink?
5Have we not power to lead about a sister, a wife, as well as other apostles, and as the brethren of the Lord, and Cephas?
6Or I only and Barnabas, have not we power to forbear working?
1 Corinthians 9:4-6

Biblical Context

Paul asserts that apostles have the right to sustenance and to be accompanied by a wife, and that he and Barnabas could refrain from labor for their living.

Neville's Inner Vision

Your 'power to eat and drink' is not granted by external decree but the I AM within you, the awareness that sustains your being. The 'sister, a wife' symbolizes the companion states of consciousness that accompany you on your journey; Cephas and the brethren are the various facets of your own self, all arising from the same I AM. To say 'Have we not power' is to awaken to sovereignty: you are not bound to menial toil; you may stand in the truth that inner abundance expresses as outer sustenance. The choice to forgo labor points to a shift from dependence on outward works to the inner assumption that all needs are met by the I AM. In this light, the verse invites you to claim inner provision as the source of all outward sustenance, a realization that redefines what it means to be supported in the world.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and affirm, I AM the source of all I need; see yourself freely eating, drinking, and traveling as a natural expression of your inner state, and feel this provision now.
