Imitating the Inner Father

1 Corinthians 4:14-16 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 1 Corinthians 4 in context

Scripture Focus

14I write not these things to shame you, but as my beloved sons I warn you.
15For though ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel.
16Wherefore I beseech you, be ye followers of me.
1 Corinthians 4:14-16

Biblical Context

Paul writes as a fatherly guide, noting that though there are many instructors in Christ, true spiritual fathers are few, and he invites them to imitate him.

Neville's Inner Vision

Think of the scripture as a mirror of your inner state. The crowd of instructors represents the multitude of passing thoughts; the true father is the steady I AM that begot you through the gospel of imagination. In Christ you are begotten, meaning your awakening is not a future conquest but a present act of consciousness. When Paul says 'be ye followers of me,' he invites you to align with the living pattern he has cultivated in consciousness, not to imitate externals. The pronouncement 'not to shame you' is a kindness of inner discipline: the soul desires growth, and growth comes from identifying with a higher self that governs every movement. You are warned not to idolize teachers outside your interior revelation; the only authority worth following is the inner father who has already spoken you into existence. So, make your mind the space where that father is constant, unshakable, and present in every moment.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and assume the state of the beloved son; feel the inner Father guiding you now, and accept imitation as the current movement of awareness.
