Inner Temple Within You

1 Corinthians 3:16-17 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read 1 Corinthians 3 in context

Scripture Focus

16Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?
17If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.
1 Corinthians 3:16-17

Biblical Context

You are the temple of God, and the Spirit of God dwells within you. Defiling the temple is choosing a separation from your holy nature.

Neville's Inner Vision

Your temple is your consciousness, the dwelling place where I AM—the Spirit—functions as awareness. To know and feel this is to awaken; the outer world is but a dream your inner state creates. The 'defilement' Paul warns against is not a failing from God, but a forgetting of who you are. Holiness is your natural condition, and the temple remains holy because the I AM within cannot be degraded by thoughts you doubt. When you revise your sense of self to the truth that you are this living sanctuary, every event rearranges itself to reflect it. You do not bargain with God; you acknowledge God is already present as your I AM. So attend to your inner state, and let faith overcome fear, certainty over doubt, and love over judgment. In that moment, the outer temple is rebuilt as the living temple within you.

Practice This Now

Assume you are the temple now. Close your eyes, breathe to the center of your chest, and silently affirm, 'I AM the temple of God, and the Spirit dwells in me.' Feel the conviction expand until it feels irreversible.
