Inner Collection, Inner Providence
1 Corinthians 16:1-4 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read 1 Corinthians 16 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Paul instructs the Corinthians to set aside a portion each week for the saints, proportionate to how they have prospered. This keeps the collection ready and aligned with their prosperity, so no last-minute gatherings are needed.
Neville's Inner Vision
Imagine that the collection is not a fund you pay to outsiders, but a movement of your own inner treasury. In truth, the first day of the week is the moment you choose to align your attention with abundance, and to lay by in store as God hath prospered you. The apostolic instruction translates to a state of conscious order: when you acknowledge your prosperity in the I AM, you organize your inner bank accordingly, so there is no scrambling when apparent need arises. The they who bring your liberality are only the symbols of your own inner messengers—your revised faith, your steady habit, your disciplined imagination. When you approve by letters, you approve by believing, and your feelings of generosity travel with them to Jerusalem—the center where lack would appear, but your consciousness has already provided. If it be meet that I go also, they shall go with me: the outer act follows the inner decision. See: Providence follows your inner state; your voluntary acts copy that state into form.
Practice This Now
Sit quietly and assume you have already laid by on the first day of the week, as God has prospered you. Feel that fullness now and let your actions reflect it.
