Inner Prophecy, Peaceful Order
1 Corinthians 14:29-33 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read 1 Corinthians 14 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Prophets should speak in order, and others should judge what is spoken; everyone may prophesy one after another so all may learn and be comforted. The 'spirits' or inspirations are under the prophets’ control, and God is the source of peace, not confusion.
Neville's Inner Vision
Within you, the scriptural phrase appears as a description of your inner state. Prophetic utterance is a movement of impressions that rises in your consciousness, and the judging part is your inner discernment, not a cruel critic. The instruction 'let the prophets speak two or three' means you allow successive, orderly revelations to arise in the living moment as you become aware of them, then pause and acknowledge them with calm, not with resistance. 'If any thing be revealed to another that sitteth by, let the first hold his peace' invites you to quiet the immediate impulse so the next insight can emerge. 'The spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets' asserts sovereign power over your thoughts and feelings; you decide which visions echo the truth of your I AM and which to disregard. Above all, 'God is not the author of confusion, but of peace' translates to: your inner atmosphere determines the quality of your experience. When you assume a serene, watchful state, every inspired thought adds to peace and learning, not turmoil.
Practice This Now
Imaginative Act: Sit in quiet and assume the I AM. Invite one inspired thought to speak, acknowledge it, and then allow the next to emerge in orderly fashion.
