Inner Communion and Choice
1 Corinthians 10:16-21 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read 1 Corinthians 10 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Paul shows the cup and bread symbolize communion with Christ, binding believers into one body; he warns that sharing in idols is fellowship with devils and cannot be with the Lord at once.
Neville's Inner Vision
Viewed through Neville's lens, the blessing cup and bread become states of consciousness rather than external rites. The cup of blessing is the life-blood of Christ flowing through awareness; the bread is the awareness of being one body, an unbroken, shared life with all. We are many in form, yet we are one loaf, indivisible as we participate in that one bread. When you speak of Israel after the flesh, you are reminded that the many forms you wear are still part of the altar you choose to honor. Idol or idolater, the thing sacrificed is not simply stone or wood, but belief. The Gentiles’ sacrifices signify thoughts you offer to fear, ego, or separation; to fellowship with devils is to concede to those thoughts. You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of devils in the same moment; you cannot be at both tables with living faith. The moment you acknowledge the unity of your being with Christ, you release the old altar and awaken to the single loaf of life—the I AM that you are.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and imagine holding the cup of blessing; declare, 'I am one with Christ consciousness' and feel the sense of separation dissolve; then feast on the bread of unity in your mind.
