David asks God to keep the people's imagination in their hearts and to prepare their hearts for Him; he also prays that Solomon be given a perfect heart to keep the commandments and to build the palace.
Neville's Inner Vision
This passage is a doorway into the psychology of your life. 'Keep this forever in the imagination of the thoughts of the heart' invites you to seat your purpose in the I AM, to let the inner vision govern your being until it governs your world. 'Prepare their heart unto thee' is a call to align feeling with divine aim, smoothing any resistance and dwelling in a consecrated awareness. 'And give unto Solomon my son a perfect heart' speaks to your own I AM bestowing a flawless capacity to keep the commandments of life—the inner disciplines by which you construct your temple of expression. The palace stands for your outward life built by inner order. When you acknowledge yourself as the supplicant and the builder, imagination becomes the workshop of God within you; you tend the image with steady faith until it becomes lived experience. You are not petitioning a distant power; you are awakening your own I AM to the truth of it.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and, with the I AM at the center, imagine the perfect heart already yours. Then revise any fear or doubt by affirming obedience to divine commandments until it feels real.
