Inner Cleansing of Idolatry
Zephaniah 1:4-5 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Zephaniah declares a cleansing judgment that removes Baal worship, the Chemarims, and other idolatries from Judah and Jerusalem. The passage also condemns worship of the host of heaven on rooftops and vows sworn by both the LORD and Malcham, exposing conflicting loyalties that must be resolved inwardly.
Neville's Inner Vision
Within every person the words of Zephaniah become a map of inner states. The stretch of the hand is the power of consciousness to withdraw belief from idols and to align with the I AM. The remnant of Baal represents stubborn habits that pretend to rule life; the Chemarims with the priests are inner ritualists who cling to outward forms. The host of heaven on the housetops is the habit of seeking power in signs and circumstances rather than in inner awareness. To swear by the LORD and by Malcham is to harbor two rival loyalties within the same mind. Yet the I AM can dissolve these by revision and by feeling it real. When you assume you are the author of your world and declare that external idols have no sovereignty, their power fades. The inner kingdom rises into clarity, and the outer life begins to reflect a unified consciousness rather than divided loyalties.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Sit quietly, breathe, and declare I am the I AM; I cut off the remnant of Baal within me now; all idols dissolve in the light of awareness. Rest in that state for a minute and watch the mind align.
