Eyes Toward The LORD Within

Zechariah 9:1-8 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Zechariah 9 in context

Scripture Focus

1The burden of the word of the LORD in the land of Hadrach, and Damascus shall be the rest thereof: when the eyes of man, as of all the tribes of Israel, shall be toward the LORD.
2And Hamath also shall border thereby; Tyrus, and Zidon, though it be very wise.
3And Tyrus did build herself a strong hold, and heaped up silver as the dust, and fine gold as the mire of the streets.
4Behold, the LORD will cast her out, and he will smite her power in the sea; and she shall be devoured with fire.
5Ashkelon shall see it, and fear; Gaza also shall see it, and be very sorrowful, and Ekron; for her expectation shall be ashamed; and the king shall perish from Gaza, and Ashkelon shall not be inhabited.
6And a bastard shall dwell in Ashdod, and I will cut off the pride of the Philistines.
7And I will take away his blood out of his mouth, and his abominations from between his teeth: but he that remaineth, even he, shall be for our God, and he shall be as a governor in Judah, and Ekron as a Jebusite.
8And I will encamp about mine house because of the army, because of him that passeth by, and because of him that returneth: and no oppressor shall pass through them any more: for now have I seen with mine eyes.
Zechariah 9:1-8

Biblical Context

Plain sense: the passage speaks of nations in judgment as Israel fixes its gaze on the LORD, and God encamps around His house with protection so no oppressor can pass.

Neville's Inner Vision

From a Neville Goddard vantage, Zechariah 9:1–8 speaks not of distant wars but of states of consciousness. The burdened land and the surrounding powers are inner conditions you have allowed into awareness; when the eyes of man turn toward the LORD, you shift your center back to the I AM, the living awareness that you are. With that inward focus, the imagined strongholds lose their grip—the sea devours the old self-structures, and fear dissolves in the flame of realization. The bastard in Ashdod stands for counterfeit urges or pride that seem to rule, yet as you inhabit the house of God with unwavering attention to the I AM, that counterfeit loses influence and your true governor—your divine self—moves you to right order. The line, no oppressor shall pass through them any more, becomes a present-tense truth: when you dwell in consciousness of God, you are guarded by the inner encampment. The outer world is re-scripted by the inner state; you are not at the mercy of circumstance but are the sovereign being living as God within.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: Sit quietly, declare I am the I AM, and imagine a warm, luminous circle encamping around your inner house, protecting you in the present moment.
