Biblical Context
God declares jealousy for Zion and promises to return to Zion and dwell in Jerusalem, where the city is called a city of truth. He will gather his people from east and west to dwell with him in righteousness.
Neville's Inner Vision
Viewed through the state theory, Zechariah 8:1–8 becomes a map of your inner geography. The jealousy of the Lord is not punitive but protective, a fervent longing that your awareness choose truth over illusion. I am returned unto Zion, and will dwell in the midst of Jerusalem is your I AM returning to the center of your being, the heart where God lives in truth. Jerusalem, the city of truth, is your present or restored state of conscious alignment. The lines about old men and old women dwelling in the streets and boys and girls playing signal the harmony of mature wisdom and childlike joy when mind stays unified. The promise to save from the east country, and from the west and to bring them to dwell in the midst of Jerusalem points to gathering all parts of self memory, desire, fear, imagination into one living center. Therefore, in truth and in righteousness becomes your inner law — think from the I AM, feel the reality, and act as the presence that you already are.
Practice This Now
Imaginative Act: Close your eyes, breathe into the heart, and affirm, I am returned unto Zion; God dwells in me as truth. Feel that reality and revise any distance by repeating, From this moment I am my God in truth and righteousness.
