Scripture Focus

2And said unto me, What seest thou? And I said, I have looked, and behold a candlestick all of gold, with a bowl upon the top of it, and his seven lamps thereon, and seven pipes to the seven lamps, which are upon the top thereof:
3And two olive trees by it, one upon the right side of the bowl, and the other upon the left side thereof.
4So I answered and spake to the angel that talked with me, saying, What are these, my lord?
5Then the angel that talked with me answered and said unto me, Knowest thou not what these be? And I said, No, my lord.
6Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.
7Who art thou, O great mountain? before Zerubbabel thou shalt become a plain: and he shall bring forth the headstone thereof with shoutings, crying, Grace, grace unto it.
Zechariah 4:2-7

Biblical Context

Zechariah 4:2-7 depicts a gold candlestick with a bowl and seven lamps, flanked by two olive trees; the message is that spiritual empowerment comes not by human might but by the Spirit within, turning obstacles into plains through grace.

Neville's Inner Vision

Within the vision, the candlestick is your inner awareness, gold and complete, fed by a bowl of grace and seven flames that burn not by effort but by the steady supply of Spirit. The two olive trees standing on either side symbolize the continual supply from the unconscious to the conscious, your right and left faculties watered by grace, ready to feed the light you carry. When the angel says not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, he whispers a law of inner life: your divine I AM can do what armies cannot. Mountains do not resist the Spirit; they bow and become level ground as you align with the activity of God within. The headstone crowned with Grace, grace is your completed wish, declared by grace rather than by human effort. So the scene is not history but a state of consciousness: the state of victory that arises when imagination accepts its own sovereignty. Your inner light, sustained by Spirit, dissolves every obstacle and makes ready the future you intend.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: Assume the feeling of your wish fulfilled—see the lamp burning with seven flames fed by grace. Then softly declare, Not by might, but by Spirit within, and rest in the sense of effortless power that follows.
