Biblical Context
Zechariah 3:5 depicts a priestly investiture: a fair mitre is placed on the head, garments are donned, and the angel of the LORD stands by. It marks readiness for holy service and the setting apart of consciousness for sacred work.
Neville's Inner Vision
Remember, every place in scripture is a state of consciousness. The lad who wears the mitre is not a man in time but a consciousness ready for holy work. The fair mitre upon the head signifies the crowned awareness—the self who knows I AM as the source of all action. When the garments are put on, you are not clothing a person, but clothing the inward dispositions of your mind: purity, order, and obedience to your true vocation. And the angel of the LORD standing by is the Presence that confirms the state. It is not an external ceremony; it is you, awake, accepting a new function within your own being. To be invested is to permit the kingdom of heaven to govern your thoughts and choices. The work you perform flows from this inward holy order; worship becomes the everyday alignment of imagination with reality. When you assume this state—clothed, crowned, watched by Presence—you begin to act as your higher self in life, and your world reflects that inward temple.
Practice This Now
Imaginative Act: Close your eyes and imagine the inner you donning a bright mitre and clean garments; affirm 'I AM the holiness that clothes my mind' and dwell in that felt reality for a few breaths.
