Shepherd Within: Reclaiming Truth

Zechariah 10:2 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Zechariah 10 in context

Scripture Focus

2For the idols have spoken vanity, and the diviners have seen a lie, and have told false dreams; they comfort in vain: therefore they went their way as a flock, they were troubled, because there was no shepherd.
Zechariah 10:2

Biblical Context

Idols and the divining voices speak vanity and lies, leaving the people troubled because there is no true shepherd to guide them.

Neville's Inner Vision

Think of the idols and the diviners not as distant people but as states of consciousness you have accepted. When you lean on voices other than the I AM—your own inner awareness—the dreams you trust are vanity and false peace. The flock you accuse of following is your habitual thoughts, moving restlessly because you have forgotten the one true shepherd within you, the I AM that governs your life. Zechariah speaks to your inner weather: when you trust images over the eternal Presence, you feel separation, fear, and confusion; when you reverse the scene and acknowledge that the shepherd is within, you invite guidance. The promise is not out there; it is already present as your awareness. You can replace the vain narratives with an assumed reality of wholeness and direction. The remedy is to rest in the I AM, to revise by a deliberate assumption, and to feel the guidance as if it is now; then the external confusion dissolves and the flock finds its true shepherd.

Practice This Now

Practice: sit quietly and affirm 'I AM the Shepherd of my life now,' then feel the presence guiding you as real in this moment; if troubling dreams arise, revise them by declaring 'I am guided by the I AM.'
