Scripture Focus

1By night on my bed I sought him whom my soul loveth: I sought him, but I found him not.
2I will rise now, and go about the city in the streets, and in the broad ways I will seek him whom my soul loveth: I sought him, but I found him not.
Song of Solomon 3:1-2

Biblical Context

These verses portray the soul's night-long search for the beloved, who represents the Presence of God. Although the beloved is not found, the longing reveals an inward quest toward consciousness.

Neville's Inner Vision

Notice that the scene shows the mind on a bed, in darkness, seeking the beloved as if elsewhere. The truth I teach is that God is the I AM within you, and the beloved is the state you already possess. When you seek Him outside, He remains hidden because you have not shifted your inner state. The rising and going about the city are symbolic: you are choosing a new consciousness, a new way of feeling. The streets and broad ways are outward conditions you survey in a state of absence. By assuming the beloved is here and now, you invite the Presence forward. Your failure to find Him is the sign you still dwell in lack; your success comes when you revise the scene and feel the Presence as real in this moment. Do not chase; retire to imagination and claim, 'I am with Him now,' letting that feeling saturate your nerves until the outer life bears witness to your inner reality.

Practice This Now

Imaginative_act: Sit, breathe, and assume the state 'I have found Him now.' Then walk through your inner city in imagination, feeling the Presence by your side until the sense of I AM becomes your living experience.
