Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The passage expresses longing for a kiss of love sweeter than wine, the beloved's fragrance binding the heart, and a call to be drawn into the king's intimate chambers where joy and love are remembered.
Neville's Inner Vision
Your verse is a map of the inner life. The kiss is not a physical act but the return of attention to the I AM that you are. Thy love sweeter than wine names the superior joy of consciousness, a joy that cannot be bought by form or sensation. The savour of thy good ointments describes the fragrance of thoughts rightly aligned with Presence; thy name is as ointment poured forth, because awareness releases your true identity as blessing. The virgins love thee indicates all aspects of your being respond to that divine lure. Draw me, we will run after thee: the king hath brought me into his chambers—an inner invitation: the self, the king within, opens the chambers of awareness to you. We will be glad and rejoice in thee, we will remember thy love more than wine: the upright love thee. When you align with this inner king, love becomes the sole atmosphere; the world within expands to house the holy Presence. Repeat this until the feeling of dwelling there is real.
Practice This Now
For 5 minutes, assume you are already in the king's chambers, beloved, and feel the kiss as the immediate reality of I AM. Let that royal presence saturate your mind and soften every thought into love.
