Field of Favor and Providence

Ruth 2:8-9 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Ruth 2 in context

Scripture Focus

8Then said Boaz unto Ruth, Hearest thou not, my daughter? Go not to glean in another field, neither go from hence, but abide here fast by my maidens:
9Let thine eyes be on the field that they do reap, and go thou after them: have I not charged the young men that they shall not touch thee? and when thou art athirst, go unto the vessels, and drink of that which the young men have drawn.
Ruth 2:8-9

Biblical Context

Boaz instructs Ruth to stay by his maidens, not glean elsewhere, and to keep her eyes on the field they reap; he has charged the men not to touch her, and invites her to drink from the vessels when thirsty.

Neville's Inner Vision

I call Ruth a state of consciousness within you, ready to be nourished and protected. Boaz is the I AM within you, the higher self that provides and guards your desire. To stay by the maidens and not glean elsewhere is to remain anchored in a favorable inner atmosphere—the field of abundance you currently inhabit. Let your eyes rest on the field they reap, and move after the images that yield fruit; these inner pictures are your purposeful direction. The charge that the young men shall not touch thee is the inner discipline that keeps fear at bay and preserves your forward motion. And when thou art athirst, drink from the vessels—draw nourishment from the very imagination you have cultivated. This is providence in action: a gentle, intimate guidance that leads you to the field where you are fed. Practice: decide a definite desire, dwell there in imagination, and feel the I AM affirming that you are cared for in this field.

Practice This Now

Assume you are Ruth in Boaz's field. State I am cared for here; keep your gaze on the field and drink from the vessels of inner abundance your higher self has drawn.
