The Potter Within You

Romans 9:19-21 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Romans 9 in context

Scripture Focus

19Thou wilt say then unto me, Why doth he yet find fault? For who hath resisted his will?
20Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus?
21Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour?
Romans 9:19-21

Biblical Context

The passage asserts that God’s design and power shapes people; humans may question it, but the Creator's authority determines the form and purpose of each life.

Neville's Inner Vision

See the scene as a drama inside your own consciousness. The potter is the I AM within you, the shaping intelligence behind every thought, feeling, and decision. The lump is your undifferentiated awareness; through attention and belief you fashion a vessel for honor or one for dishonor. When you wonder who resists his will, you are really facing your own impulse to resist the natural order of your life by clinging to old stories. Do not fight the unseen designer; rest in the fact that you are the form your consciousness chooses to express. The power to determine the quality of your life lies in your ongoing imagining: align with your I AM and persist in the inner picture of wholeness, success, and peace. To the degree you dwell in that state, you sculpt a vessel that serves honor; to the degree you doubt, you leave room for dishonor. The same lump holds both possibilities, and the choice is made by inner decree, not by chance.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: Sit quietly and declare, 'I am the potter of my life,' then feel that claim as actuality. Revised practice: choose one limitation and visualize the next moment as a vessel of honor, crafted by your I AM.
