Biblical Context
Romans 9:11-13 speaks of God's purpose resting on a call rather than on deeds, using Jacob and Esau as inner states. The elder serving the younger points to consciousness advancing as the called self rises.
Neville's Inner Vision
Before birth or the outward birth of form, the purpose of God—your true self—rests not on outward deeds but on the call that arises from the I AM within. Jacob and Esau are not two rival men, but two states of consciousness: a settled, natural self and a higher, chosen self. The phrase, 'the elder shall serve the younger,' reveals that the older condition naturally yields to the inner calling when consciousness awakens. God’s favor, 'Jacob have I loved,' is the love shown to the state you presently identify as your essential I AM. When you align with the called self, your life unfolds according to that election, not by proving yourself through works. The outer world mirrors this shift only after your inner recognition; the election is an interior choice, felt deeply, imagined vividly, and lived as if it were real. Trust that the call already resides in you, and every moment is a rung on the ladder of your self-realization.
Practice This Now
Imaginative_act: Assume the feeling, 'I am the I AM, called and loved.' Sit quietly, then picture yourself already acting from that called state today, letting the old self fade as the new self takes the lead.
