Inner Mindset of Life and Peace

Romans 8:5-6 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Romans 8 in context

Scripture Focus

5For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
6For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
Romans 8:5-6

Biblical Context

Two inner mindsets are described: those who fix their attention on the flesh chase worldly outcomes, while those who fix their attention on the Spirit pursue spiritual aims; the former brings death, the latter life and peace.

Neville's Inner Vision

Two inner kingdoms stand in the field of your consciousness. The 'flesh' is the habitual identification with limitation—the small self who tallys appearances and fears. To be after the flesh is to live as if the outer world rules your destiny. The 'Spirit' is the quiet I AM within, the eternal life that animates you. When you mind the things of the Spirit, you stop negotiating with lack and begin aligning with wholeness. Life and peace become your natural climate because you no longer fight the world; you invite your true nature to rearrange it. This shift is not a demand upon God but a claim of your inner state: you already are the life the world seeks. By assuming the feeling of that reality—seeing yourself as one with the Spirit—you cause your experiences to reflect it. Your outer circumstances respond to the inner motion you consistently honor.

Practice This Now

Sit quietly, close your eyes, and revise your self-image to the Spirit within; declare, 'I AM the Spirit of life in me,' and feel peace steadying every thought.
