For Us Within: Inner Victory

Romans 8:31-39 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Romans 8 in context

Scripture Focus

31What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?
32He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?
33Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth.
34Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.
35Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
36As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
37Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
38For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
39Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 8:31-39

Biblical Context

The passage declares that God is for us and nothing can separate us from His love in Christ Jesus; intercession and victory arise from that union.

Neville's Inner Vision

I see these verses as the language of my own inner life. God is for me in the I AM, and when I ask what can oppose the I AM, I discover that no outward force can prevail against a consciousness that knows its oneness with the divine. Spare not His own Son means the willingness of the I AM to give all of itself to the whole kingdom of my mind, so that Christ, which died and is risen within me, becomes my continual intercession. The cross and the throne are not distant events but the rising and ruling of awareness; at the right hand of God is the living inner advocate that speaks peace to my mind. Who shall separate me from the love of Christ? tribulation, distress, or peril—these are only states of mind. In truth, nothing present or to come can divide me from the love that is in Christ Jesus my Lord. I am persuaded that I am one with that love, and through it I conquer, for love itself is my strength and my home.

Practice This Now

Imaginative Act: Sit in quiet assurance and repeat 'God is for me now' until the sense of support feels like memory; then revise any fear by sinking into the felt reality of the I AM interceding within.
