Inner Law Fulfilled by Spirit

Romans 8:3-4 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Romans 8 in context

Scripture Focus

3For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
4That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
Romans 8:3-4

Biblical Context

The external law cannot save through the flesh; God sends the inner Christ to condemn sin in the flesh, so the righteous requirement of the law is fulfilled in those who live by the Spirit.

Neville's Inner Vision

Romans 8:3–4 invites us to shift the drama from outward commands to inner consciousness. The 'law' cannot save because it fights with the fleshly state; God answers by awakening the inner I AM—the Son within—into visibility, even through the appearance of mortal frailty, with power to condemn the old notion of sin. This inner birth does not override you from without; it redefines you from within, so that the 'righteousness of the law' becomes your lived state as you cease walking after the flesh and begin walking after the Spirit. When you dwell in the Spirit, you are not governed by mere rules but by the living awareness that you are the manifestation of divine law fulfilled in consciousness. The outward life aligns with the inner truth: the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace, and righteousness unfolds as your natural state.

Practice This Now

Assume the present-tense state: I am the Spirit in whom the righteousness of the law is fulfilled. Close your eyes, feel a warm light at your heart, and let that inner assurance guide your step this day.
