Biblical Context
Romans 8:17 teaches that we are children who are heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; suffering in this context becomes the inner process that leads to glory.
Neville's Inner Vision
To the awakened mind, Romans 8:17 reveals that you are not a future beneficiary but a present I AM—the consciousness that creates. 'Children' denotes your true state, the inner position from which all life flows. 'Heirs of God' means the divine inheritance is your essential condition, and 'joint-heirs with Christ' says your nature shares in the Christ-level of awareness, not in external status. The 'suffer with him' is not about external misfortune; it is the inner surrender of old self-conceptions that no longer serve your divine birth. When you permit that old image to be dissolved, you 'glorify together' by letting the new you stand forth, a reflection of your Father’s reality. The moment you stop negotiating with lack and begin feeling as the I AM that already owns it all, you live from the end you seek. Your imagination is the instrument; your feeling, the key; your attention, the door. The verse invites you to revise your inner state until it is in full accord with your sonship.
Practice This Now
Assume the feeling of your divine status: I am an heir of God, joint-heir with Christ. Close your eyes, dwell in the I AM state, and revise any sense of lack until it feels real; then watch your outer life echo the glory within.
