Inner Law of Consciousness

Romans 7:25 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Romans 7 in context

Scripture Focus

25I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.
Romans 7:25

Biblical Context

Paul describes a mind that serves the higher law of God while the body clings to sin; it marks an inner tension between higher and lower impulses.

Neville's Inner Vision

Recognize that Paul’s confession is not a sermon about outward struggle, but a revelation of inner states. The 'mind' is your awake I AM, the clear light through which you can choose to align with the divine law. When you say, 'I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord,' you are naming the awareness that never wavers in grace. Therefore the two 'laws' are not separate forces outside you, but two moods within consciousness. In one mood you serve the law of God—obedience, harmony, right imagination—because you are conscious of the I am as God in expression. In the other mood you allow the old appetite, fear, or habit to rule, and that is the law of sin. Neville would have you see that the higher law already supersedes the lower when you dwell in the fulfilled state. By assuming the end—the feeling that you already live in the divine order—you collapse the contrast and awaken the inner shift. The body follows the mind's decree; reality rearranges to reflect your inner state.

Practice This Now

Assume the state of the I AM now: silently declare, 'I am the mind that serves the law of God.' Feel the calm, gratitude, and let the old impulse dissolve.
