Inner Struggle, I Am

Romans 7:15 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Romans 7 in context

Scripture Focus

15For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I.
Romans 7:15

Biblical Context

The verse describes a mind in conflict: what the speaker does isn’t aligned with what he desires, and what he intends to do is not what he ends up doing.

Neville's Inner Vision

Romans 7:15 is not a condemnation of your essence but a snapshot of your present state of consciousness. The deeds you perform arise from identification with a lesser state, not from the true I AM you are. When you hear the words, do not condemn the self, but recognize you are observing a habit-bound mind. The real you—the I AM—has not yet fully reigned over the ceaseless movements of the old identity. The moment you affirm and dwell in the I AM as your sole being, inner movements shift. The conflict persists because you still identify with the doer rather than with your divine essence. By claiming the I AM, you revise the entire field: make the feeling of the wish fulfilled present, and declare that you now embody the choice you intend. With persistent alignment to this inner state, the old actions dissolve into obedience to your true decree, and what once resisted becomes natural.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and silently affirm: I am the I AM; I now live from the end state of the desired action. Revise by feeling it real and begin to act from that assumed state today.
