Crucifying The Old Self

Romans 6:6 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Romans 6 in context

Scripture Focus

6Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
Romans 6:6

Biblical Context

Your old self is crucified with Christ, and the power of sin is destroyed. From this new consciousness, you are not bound to serve sin.

Neville's Inner Vision

Knowing this is your state: the old man is crucified with him, the body of sin destroyed, so that you live not in sin’s old voice but in the I AM that you are. The old man is a belief, not a fact in God’s creation; when you awaken to your true self as awareness, that belief loses its grip. Do not strive against sin with effort; refuse to identify with the old patterns and imagine yourself as the new creation already standing free. In that moment of recognition, the power of the so called body of sin dissolves and no longer dictates your choices. The liberation is instantaneous in consciousness, and your experiences will align with the new state as you persist in the feeling of the wish fulfilled. Your task is to maintain the supposition that you are the man or woman who is one with the crucified and risen Christ, and to feel it real until it becomes your visible life.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: Close your eyes and reaffirm 'I am the I AM.' See the old self dissolving and dwell in the feeling that you are the free, new creation in every moment.
